Day 1 of chemo in the books
So day 1 of chemo went quite smoothly . My nurse Hannah was amazing and I was thankful for her and thankful that I was allowed to bring my own Miss  Emily with me . The appointment was about 4 hours long and I have a portable pump that will run till Friday afternoon then we go back and they disconnect but Emily and I will get teaching so the next time we can disconnect at home .
The nausea has been minimal , I am also on steroids so Andrew better watch out I may challenge him to a hockey game or sit up contest !!
One of the drugs causes an adverse reaction to cold so only room temp or warmer drinks and food for 5 days , so of course now I am craving frozen yogurt which I couldn’t have cared less about last week ! They tell you not to even open the fridge due to chance of a blow of cool air or to touch metal ,to wear socks , brush teeth with warm water ….. so many new rules!
Anyway all is well so far and the big D has also subsided somewhat . Thanks again for all the support Susan xx

  2. Must be tough being the rule breaker that you are! One day at a time and soon enough you will be done. How many rounds of chemo do you need?

    1. I know ,I was quite surprised but this am accidentally ran my finger tips under cold water and it was like immediate shock waves and forgot my slippers and feet like they were being stabbed on the tile floor ! Strange for sure
      Take care

  3. Hi Susan
It’s good to get that first treatment done.
A friend of mine attached a pair of gloves to the door of her fridge to remind herself to put them on if she was going to touch anything in there. She lived on her own so not opening the fridge was not an option.
I loved the story of your dad visiting. He’s definitely watching over you. ❤️

  4. Glad to hear things are better for you. One day at a time. Try to stay positive. This will all soon be behind you. Sending
    good vibes. Fern..

  5. So glad the first one is stated and the big D is receding. I loved that you felt your Dad’s presence and comfort when you really needed him. That’s a pretty special relationship that will always be there. So thinking of you, and sending my best.
