My ivad was inserted on April 6 2021. Once again in a very cold room with a great big machine ! It didn’t really hurt other than the freezing stung a bit . Radiologist and the tech and RN were all very nice . They were chatting about shows they were watching ,the radiologist had just seen CODA on the airplane and cried . I must watch that one , it did cross my mind where have you been travelling ,do you have covid ,please use good technique ! The tech a new grad so very young was watching old episodes of wheel of fortune , she wondered if ladies really wore those long dresses all the time lol!
All the staff kept telling me how lucky I was to get one of the new ’power ’ ivads’. The power ivads let the staff use it to draw blood out of so you don’t need to get poked . However they said it is usually only intensive care staff that have the training ! I said thanks but I hope I never see the inside of an ICU .
So now I have a visible sign of being ill, I don’t just look like a tired old stressed out lady ! Brooklynn is most excited to see my staples and stitches ,I may have to teach her how to do a dressing change as it is in an awkward spot !
